Parent Retirement Resident Visa


If you have an adult child who is a New Zealand citizen or resident, you can apply to live in New Zealand permanently. You’ll need an annual income of NZ $60,000 plus NZ $1 million to invest for 4 years, and another NZ $500,000 to live on. Once you’ve completed the 4-year investment period, you’ll be eligible for permanent residence.

You must keep at least NZ $1 million invested in an acceptable investment in New Zealand for 4 years.

Work

You can work in New Zealand.

Study

You can study in New Zealand.

Travel

You can travel in and out of New Zealand for the first 2 years of your 4-year investment period.

If Immigration New Zealand confirm that you’re meeting all of the conditions that apply to the first 2 years of your investment period, you can apply for a variation of conditions to allow you to travel for the last 2 years.

If you’ve met all the conditions of your visa at the end of the 4-year investment period, you may be granted a permanent resident visa.

A permanent resident visa allows travel in and out New Zealand free from conditions.
